Step 1 : Shuffle the Event cards

Step 2 : put the Event cards face down on the board.

The board is tipping down in the above picture because its so huge its hanging off the edge of my game table.

Step 3 : Sequence the SitRep cards, lowest to highest with the Sutton card at the bottom.

Step 4 : Place the SitRep cards face down on the board

Step 5 : Place the AAF...

... including the dreaded Exocet carring Super E's

Step 6 : Place the Argi' subs ready to leave port

Step 7 : Place the Argi' navy "off board" or in my case due to a lack of space, actually on-board but in a meaningless location

Step 8 : Place the Troops onto their transports

Step 9 : Place the British Harrier forces on thier carriers

Step 10 : Place the turn marker on the turn track ( actually a calendar )

Step 11 : Place the Islands Supply status marker on the turn track. This marker does not use the dates on this track just the numbered position.

Step 12 : Place the National and International opinion markers, this starts at 10, if it drops to zero, its "game over man".

Step 13 : Place the counters that represent the effects of International Opinion, these get removed as opinion drops...

Step 14 : GULP! Place the Exocet count marker on the turn track. Once again this counter ignores the dates shown on the turn track and is just used to track the count of Exocets

Step 15 : Place the Scramble modifier on its track, this show the effects of weather on the ability to get aircraft in the air

Step 17 : Place the ships onto the formation display

Stap 18 : Finally place the British subs on patrol

Now your ready to play!!!!

One pedantic rules quibble: you've put the Blues & Royals on the QE2, but the B&R can't be put on either of the QE2 or Canberra. No room for their tanks...

Other than than than that, very nice.

Edit to say for that what it's worth, on set-up I stack the RN reinforcements on the right days on the day track to get all the fiddly counter-sorting out of the way at the start.

Thats made me think. I should sort all of the reinforcments into seperate baggies when putting away, that'll speed up the set up.

I carefully marked the date of entry on the rear of the counters. It speeds things up for me.

The new edition has rekindled my interest & I've just finished a new game after a 4 month 'break' (Narrow British Victory). A most enjoyable session.

Edit: Spelling

Quote:
Step 8 : Place the Troops onto their transports

This is your First Decision as a Player:
Best troops early?
Balanced loads on Canberra & QE2?
Check the arrival dates of the ships.
Too soon, and you risk losing them in a disaster.
Too late, and Sutton starts without them.

Quote:
Step 17 : Place the ships onto the formation display

This is your Second Decision as Player:
Overlapping capability along Main Threat Axis?
Thin coverage all the way Around?
Sea Wolf with the Carriers?
Not enough, not enough
. shake

Stap 18 : Finally place the British subs on patrol

This is your Third Decision as a Player, and last during set-up:
All three subs have the same capability, so it comes to what coverage do you want?
Eyes everywhere?
Concentrated Firepower?
Eastward deployments to avoid ROE restrictions?

Quote:
Now you're ready to play!!!!
(typo)

And now you have many, many more decisions to make!
Good Luck, and Good Hunting!
God Save the Queen!
