When: Pre-order now until June 25th.
Where: Kickstarter
How Much: $50 level is a pre-order with a few bonuses. Bonuses get nicer and nicer as pledge levels increase.

Publication Date: Still undetermined. Talking two a couple of manufacturers now and hope to send it all of to one of them before the end of May. So...with luck...late summer or early fall...but I have little control over it once it's in the printer's hands.

Ya, that is one drawback to the Kickstarter program, there are no options for alternate payment methods. When the game is published you'll be able to order it through our web site via Paypal, so maybe that's something you can do at the appropriate time.

Yeah, at first I was alittle concerned about giving them my credit card but they are backed by Amazon who already has it so I guess its not a big deal!

Normally I prefer Paypal since there's an added level of protection. But the Kickstarter website seem legit.

Love the oldschool sci-fi art. Reminds me of garage sale paperback covers from Heinlein and E. E. Doc Smith books.

I'll be putting in a preorder, but it will probably be a couple weeks.

Those are exactly the example art pieces that we sent to Mark Maxwell when we were designing the look of the game...so I'm very glad to see that our effort has paid off.

As they pointed out in another thread, pledging through Kickstarter is just a pledge... nothing gets charged until the deadline is met, if the funding goal is met...

I'm short too, right now, but I pledged my $50...

Since someone is obviously paying homage to SF writers past, how is it that Herbert did not end up as having the desert named after him and Burroughs, despite Barsoom also being water poor, something like highlands, canals, jungle, abandoned cities or even the Great Burroughs Marshes?

Well, I'm not the literate one here...I am sure I'm mispronouncing Van Vogt every time I say it...so I'll leave the explanation of the naming of planetary territories to Tory.

So, I finally figured out the secret to CMYK printing...SATURATION! What looks good on screen, looks like some crazy messed-up drug trip when you print it out. But decrease the saturation by 25% to 30%. The screen now looks like a faded photo from the 1800's, but you get super sweet printed results! As proof, I call your attention to the newest prototype box and board that I just printed out. One pic is below and the rest are at this link...

http://www.clevermojogames.com/alienfrontiers/prototype.html

So, apart from the fact that the wrap is stuck to an old Trivial Pursuit box and my label paper wasn't big enough to cover the ratty corners...I need legal size full-sheet label paper...would you buy this game if you saw it on a shelf at your friendly local game store?

Oh, and if you haven't pre-ordered your copy of Alien Frontiers over at Kickstarter.com...please do so. http://af.4r.st/

Honestly, the reason for that is just that I didn't like the sound of "Herbert Desert." Both words ending in -ert sounded ugly to my ears.

We're shooting for $40 plus priority or air-mail shipping costs which will probably be $10 to $20 depending on where you're located on the globe.

So, pre-ordering at our Kickstarter project will get you the game, shipping anywhere in the world, four rocket scoring tokens, and an exclusive Alien Tech card all for $50.

AND, if you like things like art books, giclee prints, or actual pieces of the painted Alien Frontiers art, then take a look at the higher Backer levels for those exciting rewards.

The Kickstarter pre-orders end on June 26th.

We're hoping to have the game from the printers in September.

Hi,

I love the art for Alien Frontiers, but I think I could help you on the graphic design; any interest?

(I made Magic Realm redesign, as well as other stuff with Z-Man)

Since then Karim has been working closely with Tory and me to put some serious polish on Alien Frontiers. Here are some before and after pics to gaze upon...click the pics for bigger versions.

We're very happy with these redesigns. Karim is doing a fabulous job! We hope you agree.

Please visit our Kickstarter Project to pre-order your copy of Alien Frontiers.

What will the production colony tokens be made of? In the kickstart video they appear to be either plastic or wood, but in this picture they look sort of like glass.
