Oh, oh, Den Haag, mooie stad achter de duinen.....
Patrick Cleburne, probably the most underrated Confederate general
This race used the Leader 2 rules.
Participating teams (r=rouleur; l=leader; c=climber):
Liquigas (Agnoli, r; Kreuziger, l; Nibali, c)
HTC-Columbia (Martin, r; Albasini, l; Monfort, c)
Sky (Gerrans, r; Löfkvist, l; Froome, c)
The race started with a pack that was in a hurry to get to the finish....using TeamPursuitPoints on every turn possible. As soon as the pack slowed down, Agnoli jumped and took the lead with almost 2/3 of the race still ahead.
And he continued to stay ahead of the pack for a large part of the race.
When the pack reached the half way point of the race, the favorites thought it was time to show themselves. With Agnoli still in the lead, followed by Löfkvist, Gerrans, Nibali, Albasini and Monfort.
With only two short climbs to the finish, it is Monfort, Albasini, Nibali, Gerrans and Löfkvist in the lead group.
On the final climb, Albasini made his move and surprised the rest of the group. He won the race with Nibali and Gerrans coming in second and third.
The final result:
2. Nibali (1 turn behind)
3. Gerrans -1
4. Kreuziger -4
5. Froome -4
6. Monfort -6
The pack -7
Oh yeah, lucky bastard
Nah, just kidding, a well deserved win! Also, it makes so much more fun now that you painted the cyclists - so thanks again Mark!
