The latest version has some additional monuments, for example it includes the Euphrat & Tigris: Die Zikkurat. In addition, the new board is two-sided with different arrangements of the river.

Note that many people still like the original simpler artwork better.

I have the new version. Never saw the old version in real life, but from the images, I like the newer artwork. It also has the ziggurat expansion, an "advanced" board (on the other side), and "advanced" buildings. All of these I've used and they do add something to the game (although I still like it without the advanced rules).

In the sense that one side of the board is identical in layout to the standard T&E board, anyway. The artwork is different. It just sort of sounded like there was a second board instead of one double-sided one.
