Hello there, i'm now interested in a couple of German games (Carcassonne for example) and i wondered if anyone can gime me the web address of any German board game shops where i can buy cheaper versions than from the UK?

So, anyone in the UK dealt with our German neighbours at all?

Thanks,

Mike..........

German Suppliers
Hi !!

You could try these :

www.adam-spielt.de
www.playme.de

I've bought games at adam-spielt before and I'm very satisfied with their service....
I've never shopped at playme so I can't say anything about them...

Good shopping!!

Though I'm not in the UK, I might be able to help.

Try

http://www.all-games.de/index.html
http://www.das-spiel.de/
http://www.magnus-spiele.de/

Just remember : German postage is excruciatingly expensive !

You could try your luck with a Dutch shop :

stupid question but are you looking for a german version of carcassone or just any language version?
you can get carcassonne on most sites
but if you want a german version you'll have to go with the ones mentioned above!
Cheers

Café Race is a race game set in a business office. The players take the role of office workers going upstairs to the first floor to get a cup of coffee who then improvise a race while they are going back downstairs… with a cup full of coffee.

Playme.de ships in all Europe for a flat rate of 13 euro. Just add "Postage EC" to your cart when you do your order.
Used twice Playme.de and I was always pleased.

Thanks guys.
This'll be a good referance for the future.

Just to clarify, i can get the games i want in the UK, but i want to compare the prices (UK is massively overpriced) and add on the postage to see if it is cheaper.

Thanks again,

Mike........

I spent several hours yesterday checking out different German webstores (a man has to do something at work ) and i found that by far the cheapest was: http://www.magnus-spiele.de/

I haven't ordered with them yet so i can't comment on their service.

Of course several of the other internet stores (like http://www.spiele-offensive.de/) have really nice 'sonderangebote' (special offers) so it's always worth checking out different sites to find the best bargains.

Watch out for Playme!
Playme has ripped off a couple people here, myself included. Buyer beware!

Cheaper than UK?
I have used Adam Spielt a couple of times and it has worked out about 50-60% of the UK cost even after adding postage (of course the postage gets better value the bigger the order). They deliver in a week or less too. Very satisfied.

Postage from Germany is not terrible. It's a flat rate for a large weight (I forget the numbers). The smart thing to do therefore is to buy several games at once. 3 or 4 big games, 3 or 4 small games and 6 card games makes a nice package. If you can only afford to buy one or two games though, ask your gaming friends and put a bulk order together.

Nobody has mentioned Andy Dalglish's excellent service:
http://members.aol.com/aforandy/discount.htm
Not for profit, Andy has been promoting german games for years, selling at cost plus postage. Send him your order, then send him a cheque *after* delivery. The big benefit is for gamers without credit cards, because Andy wants payment in GBP of course, not euros.
