In our last game, the card Battlebot Uprising came up very early in the game, before the bots were activated. This lead to quite a bit of arguing.

How would you play this?

Since the bot were not activated, the card remains without effect and therefore the threat marker would not move. So the malfunction could be safely ignored if no other internal threats needed battlebots to counter. this also bring two questions to repairing the malfunction.

A: to repair it, you must activate the bots first and then repair for a cost of 5 to 6 C actions

Or

B: you can repair without activating for a cost of 4.

Or do you consider that the bots activate themselves as soon as the card comes out and the first player that enters that station is automatically considered as "leading the bots"?

Thank you for your help

I have no idea where you're getting these ideas about activating the battlebots. If the threat did not move until they were activated, surely the card would say something to that effect.

Once the threat is out, you cannot activate battlebots until it's dealt with. You beat them by pressing the 'C' button 4 times total in the two rooms where there are battlebots. You could press it once in the lower red room and three times in the upper blue room, for example.

If you happen to have activated a battlebot squad prior to the threat coming out, you're knocked out when the threat hits X.

Remember to put the oval C malfunction tokens onto the C buttons on the appropriate stations. This will remind you that pressing C there won't do the normal action (active bots) but will repair the malfunction (bot uprising).

Ignore any action that doesn't have a prerequisite met. So if no one is leading the battle bot squad it doesn't knock anyone out on action X. This doesn't prevent them from doing their Y or Z actions, though.
