I recently asked to hear what was your most favoritest game in the whole big wide world. Well Someone mentioned russion roulette and that got me thinkging.
What games would be fun that would never be produced. Be imaginative.

I will start with:

NERF RUSSIAN ROULETTE - you soak the bullet and the one who looses gets a soggy temple. The delux edition comes with red dye.

The sequel to Gillotine: "Gas Chamber"

Ouch. I think I even offended myself on that one. Which brings me to my point. Isn't it odd that it's ok to make fun of the Salem Witch Trials, the Black Plague, and the Reign of Terror, but not the Holocaust, American slavery, or the Khmer Rouge. I think the time since a given event has a lot to do with it. So how long is long enough? 200 years? Are there other factors as to how long it takes for the taboo to wear off?

On a side note about the Gas Chamber game, with all the auction games going, I'm sure you'll never see "Slave Auction"

the Busen Memo Live Action Role Playing Game.
I recall many years ago, The Playboy Channel had a game show where they showed the women's breasts through a little trap door, then came out and the contestant had to identify which breasts were behind door #1, etc.
It was laughably bad. I remember being dismayed that the magazine that gave us great interviews and top-notch fiction along with boobies would stoop that low.
And yes, I really DID read it for the articles!

So how long is long enough?

My guess would be, when all the people who lived through it are dead and their children are dead, you would be pretty safe in making fun of it. So, perhaps 150 years. Your guess of 200 years is probably better.

There are always people who find making fun of tragic events inappropriate. Satire, however, is a type of comedy that can be very relevant, even as terrible events are occurring. For example, a political cartoon depicting Yasser Arafat's head scarf at half mast on a flag pole today would be effective satire.

I'm sure you'll never see "Slave Auction"

I believe that was the original name for the "Mayor" phase in Puerto Rico before they translated it to English.
