What's the negative opinion of the game based on?

I'm more of a medium- to complex-difficulty wargamer, but to me TtR offers a great balance of mind-emptying fun, pretty colors, and enough strategery to keep people coming back.

It's also led to a couple players brancing out into my "deeper" euro games. If you call Settlers or Puerto Rico deep.
