If I've exhausted my sun tiles, is it ok to call for a Ra. I know I cannot bid, but I'm sure that someone else will bid and take those tiles, of course the risk might be that everyone passes and I cannot bid as well.

The reason I ask this is because I can cause harm to others by calling for an early ra. Technically possible?

No. If you've used all your sun tiles, you don't have a turn until the next epoch.

...and since you do not have a turn any more, your remaining "gods" tiles cannot be swapped with a tile on offer. Think twice before using your last sun!

Ok, this is something new to me. So if I run out of Sun tiles, I don't even get to draw a tile from the bag nor exchange a previously owned God tile with a tile from the board is it?

Then I've been playing it wrong. What we were doing is once a player used up all their sun tiles, we used to ask him/her to either draw a tile or use the God tile to exchange.

Will immediately update my group and I know there will be a huge uproar

That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

So on the balance, it'll be a positive experience, if a little painful at first.

Though there are several versions of the game out there, I think the rules are fairly similar. If your group needs convincing, the rules published at the Rio Grande website cover this on page 4. (Your rule book is likely the same or similar.)

Quote:
The Epochs
As a player with no face up suns in his play area (i.e. he has used all
his suns) may take no more turns in the epoch, there are decreasingly
fewer players to compete for the tiles...

And the side bar on that page also mentions this:

Quote:
A player without suns takes no more turns in the epoch.

It's funny; for a game that has a reasonably well written rule book, this game seems to generate more threads from people playing it wrong in so many different ways.
