As I'm sitting at my desk today, paying bills and sending some money to a couple of my favorite charities, I wondered what charities other people support. There are so many good causes but most of us have to limit who we can support. You can tell where my loyalties lie by the list of charities I support more than once a year.

Paralyzed Veterans of America
Disables Veterans of America
USO
Humane Society of the US
ASPCA
American Humane Society

If you don't mind, I'd love to hear who you support regularly (more than once a year).

My 13 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on his 4th birthday, so this is a cause very close to my heart.

Nothing yet. I hope to change that one day, maybe once I'm getting paid what I'm worth. No, wait... getting paid what I'm worth might be a bad thing.

It depends but usually the world crisis of the month and a local charity or two. Sometimes United Way but it depends on what the work place is doing.

I don't really give to charity but I do volunteer for my local HS. I'm an animal lover, what can I say.

None. All of our charitable contributions (including church) are once-a-year checks.

Our local church
Compassion International
AmVets (donations for their stores)
VietNam Vets (donations for their stores)
Boy Scouts (I never buy their products, I just give the troop money. They get more that way)

Now you can think I'm a total jerk, here is an organization that I will never send money to.....

Red Cross.

Two things happened that ruined that organization for me. nuff said.

Our local church (money and time)
two local food pantries (multiple food drives)
our kids' school (time, money and office supplies)
a local group that sells donated items to fund a free medical clinic
Girl Scouts (time as leader and kids selling cookies)

by keeping it local, i have a better idea of where the money is going and how it is being used...

Multiple times:
American Lung Association
March of Dimes

Several others once a year.

We also donate old clothing and household items to various charity organizations throughout the year.

Finally, we donate blood on a regular basis. Well, I've had to hold off for a year, as I had a minor bone graft, and the blood center won't take my blood until the one year is up, but my wife has continued giving about every eight weeks (she's getting close to 15 gallons total, at a pint per time).
