Hi all,

just found this nice fellow on a flea market for 1 EURO!
What a find...

Wanted to ask - why are there the "variant rules"? What do they change besides adding the red tokens?

They don`t add more than these. I guess, the attempt was to add some "victory points" and variety into scoring and strategy.

No - it makes a huge difference.
The "old" rules hinge around the doubling up and the bluff, but it is very harsh. If someone else has also chosen your guy, then when you move him in, you will get nothing. In the variant you at least get a chip which lets you extend your turn. The bluffing is also less harsh now - no-one has to ante up to call your bluff, you just take a risk based on your assessment of the other players' choices. I haven't played the variant, but have played the original a fair amount. The variant sounds like it fixes several things that were a bit too coarse grained.

Why "no" that`s what I was talking about

I always loved the "harsh" bluffing aspect - it is much of the fun.

Well it does do more than just "adding the red tokens"

We found that people would rarely call a bluff because the price was so high.

The variant should also let you bluff from the beginning (although that is not what it says) as you don't have to put up a garment as a stake.

However these variant rules don't seem to be official so you should certainly play the original if that's what you like!
