There is the regular HeroQuest which has two versions (a US and a UK version with some minor differences), in addition, that was later released as "HeroQuest Master Edition" and also called "HeroQuest Advanced Quest Edition" (which had some extra 'stuff' in them), there were several expansions for this as well.

But that is not to be confused with "Advanced HeroQuest" which is a different game entirely.

What you may want to do is go to this link here on BGG

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgamefamily/69/heroquest

Which lists all of the different versions of the game as well as all expansions, etc.

Advanced Heroquest does have an option to use the components from Heroquest... I think that if you can get the Rulebook, you will be able to manage it.

And if you have one copy of "HeroQuest" and buy yourself one copy of "Advanced Heroquest" then you can play "Allied HeroQuest" (like "Descent: Journeys in the Dark").
