When a player has Colony Ship down, during a settle phase, can I settle and then ALSO discard the Colony Ship? In other words, in one phase, I'll have TWO new cards down?It is NOT legal. Colony Ship just reduces the cost of a world down to 0. (this is why I doN'T like describing it as "you get a free settle"). You still only get to place on world on a settle phase, it's just that now, you don't need to pay for it is all.
Is this legal???
I hear this is often a common thinking with CCGs. Cards like this would imply you get an extra placement for such a phase. On a related note, +1 keep in CCGs also implies +1 look as well, contrary to how Explore works in RftG.
Obligatory expansion notes.....
If you have Improved Logistics from expansion #1, a card that lets you settle 2 worlds in a single settle phase, then Colony Ship can only be used for one world. For the other world, you still need to pay for its cost or conquer it normally.
