I've read about the various finds from the US, and the problem is here most of the games (rio grande et al) have to be imported, so it's difficult enough to get the games through regular channels, and they are ALL expensive (eg betrayal house on hill $60, E&T $60 Carcassonne $25). For some reason, I looked in a few charity shops in Cambridge, and found Kahuna, simply cosmic (UP)and rosenkonig for almost nothing. Not incredible finds, but very happy as I was looking at buying Kahuna and wanted to try out cosmic encounter. Would appreciate similar tales from UK, to see whether it's worth keeping up.

Cheers all,

Big City (unplayed) and Cathedral, both from the same shop in Solihull. I've been keeping my eyes open for years but that's it so far.

Many, ...
... including:

Election by Intellect Games
El Grande
Wildlife Adventure
Loads of GW titles including Talisman & DungeonQuest
An obscure AH title that sold for over $200 on ebay

Keep looking!

Patience is a Virtue
My own infrequent charity-shop and car-boot sweeps have turned up, amongst other things:
RoboRally (£3.00);
AH 2nd. Ed Kingmaker (£0.50, mint!);
Panzer leader (£3.00, unpunched and swapped for a pal's similarly-priced find of the Battleline/A.H edition of Machiavelli, unpunched);
The beautiful Ravensburger edition of Hase und Igel (£3.00, mint, very recently this one);
Trump the Game (£0.50, a bit tarnished but pristine components);
AH Bull Run (£3.00, in shrink) etc. etc..

You get the picture? You just have to be patient and keep looking. Remember the lion does make a kill every time he strikes (I know: lionesses do most of the food shopping). Good hunting!

charity
Jonas, you won't find any in Central London, they occupy the suburbs and towns in Britain. There are lots of them, they generally are full of 2nd hand clothes, but if you hunt at the back of the shop you'll find 100s of jigsaw puzzles and the odd game. Shps to look for are Oxfam, The British Heart Foundation, Sue Ryder, Age Concern, British Red Cross, MIND,
PDSA, RSPCA, Save the Children UK, Shelter, St Leonard's Hospice to name a few.

This website will let you search in the UK by town or postcode:
http://www.charityshops.org.uk/
The link Find A Charity Shop on the right menu gives good results, but any local shopping parade will have a string of charity shops. However, be warned, 99% of the games in UK shops are junk, and junk with missing bits too.

btw i love the looks i get as i spread the parts of a game all over the floor trying to find out if it's complete...
i don't mind collecting junk if it's all there (unlike me ).
