Win a Ladybug expansion and Hive Carbon set Competition has ENDED!

We will read all of the explanations thoroughly to see if someone got close to guessing the movement of the new Ladybug piece. If there is a winner, we will announce it as soon as we can.

In the meantime, please do not make any more guesses.

Guess:

The Ladybug moves like the beetle (move one space, or climb onto the piece next to it), but with the additional ability to move itself and the piece underneath it to another location in the hive (following the one hive rule) as its move action (fly). This would allow you to move your bee out of tight places, or move out an opponent's piece closing in your bee, allowing for escape.

The ladybug must come into the hive on top of one of your own pieces. It must stay on top of the hive. Once placed, the ladybug may move by sliding across the hive to any new position so long as the final position is on the 'outside' of the hive.

Guess #2 (minor adjustment to possible get it right if I am close):

The Ladybug moves like the beetle (move one space, or climb onto the piece next to it), but with the additional ability to move itself and the piece underneath it, excluding a bee, to another location in the hive (following the one hive rule) as its move action (fly). This would allow you to help your bee out of tight places by moving out an opponent's piece closing in your bee, allowing for escape.

edited last sentence to remove reference re: ability to move bee.

Ladybugs fly. (Don't I know... I have about 100 million of the things in my house in the Fall. Fun fact: they stink! Dead or alive they smell bad!)

So the Ladybug has the same movement as the Beetle but once on top of the hive may move to any location on the top of the hive. It must climb down off the hive as a Beetle does.

The ladybug enters like any other piece, but once in play, the ladybug can move under another piece, and the piece on top is then not considered surrounded and may then move like a beetle until it drops off the top of the hive where it will resume its normal movement abilities. Worth a shot. One piece in the game (beetle) goes on top, so how about one that goes under nd gives a boost to another piece?

The ladybug moves like the queen, and allows you to controll any of your opponents pieces adjacent to it.

The ladybug moves like the queen and "freezes" any of your opponents pieces that are adjacent to it (they can't move).

The ladybug moves exactly 2 spaces or it can change places with a piece it's touching.

The ladybug doesn't move at all once in play, but you can take it back in hand instead of doing a normal move and then replay it a later time. Also, the ladybug can touch an opponents piece when it's brought into play.

The Ladybug can fly to an adjacent space to an animal of the same type of the animal adjacent to it`s original position.

Example: if the ladybug is touching an ant and a beetle, it can move to a new space adjacent to an ant or a beetle.

The ladybug grows to an enormous size when frightened, crushing its opponents.

What? It could happen.

Okay, okay, okay . . . the ladybug doesn't move, but it causes two bugs touching it on one side to swap places. The bugs must be of different types to swap, but do not have to be the same player's pieces.

Alternately, the ladybug can only move by doing the hokey-pokey. Left foot in, left foot out, left foot in, etc.

Ladybug's move like beetles, but ladybugs can't move on top of beetles and beetles can't move on top of ladybugs.

The ladybug is put into play like any normal piece. It then multiplies hundreds of times and takes over the game, defying any attempts to remove it, choking your vacuum cleaner, filling your windowsills with tiny corpses and probably surrounding both queens in the process.

The ladybug can move from where it is to any other space on the hive to which it can move in a straight line without going around another piece.

The ladybug can move just like the ant, except when it lands, it can only touch a piece of the same color (white or black) as it. Like the ant, it can only slide, it can not jump or crawl on top of another piece.

The ladybug jumps like the grasshopper, except it can only jump four pieces, and it can jump over empty spaces.

The ladybug can swap places with any other piece that is accessible (can be slid away from) the outside of the hive.

The ladybug can devour (remove from the game) one piece that it is touching, when it does this, it is also removed from the game. It can also move one spot (like the queen).

The ladybug can be placed anywhere, (normal placement rules, only touching your own pieces) but it can not be moved. Instead, it can be removed from the game and later re-placed.

The ladybug is a singularity, existing in all possible spaces at all possible moments. This is why there is no shipping or pricing information on the piece yet; you already have it. You've always had it; you just didn't know it.

Alternately: the ladybug moves in a straight line, and may move twice in a single turn.

The ladybug can move itself, and one other piece that it is touching, as a unit, one space.
