Interesting you should make a comparison to car crashes. You've probably heard that after a lengthy investigation, it was determined that Toyota wasn't actually at fault after all. That it was driver-error. Idiots stepping on the accelerator instead of the brake, and then claiming (probably in the hopes of a huge $ettlement) that "sudden and unexplained acceleration" caused their cars to crash.
After dragging the Toyota CEO over to the US for public humiliation and watching the poor man figuratively fall on his sword, after forcing a recall of 8 million vehicles and a $16.4 million fine, will our government apologize? Doubt it.
How does this relate to BP?
