Was at a local hobby store for some D&D dice and the guy there said that there's going to be a re-release of this wonderful game.

Can anyone confirm this?

Hope it's true. If so, wonder if they will make any changes, and if so, what kind of changes. Hoping there will be more quests, and possibly more than one board....

I think what you're seeing are references to an RPG that's also being called HeroQuest,

Could they be confusing it with DungeonQuest, which has been re-released by FFG just now?

Didn't FFG already re-release this as Descent? jk jk.

My friends and I always joke that Descent is HeroQuest on steroids.

I was at Games Workshop a while ago painting my Space Hulk Figures and they were saying its actually WarhammerQuest thats getting re-done through them not F.F. games as a stand alone board game (ala Space Hulk) next year. Don't know the truth of this.

Actually Descent is more like Advanced Heroquest then the original board game.

I'll agree with you there. But when my friends and I first made the joke we didn't know about advanced heroquest.

I can't imagine a reprint o Hero Quest without major changes, which IMO would make it a different game. HQ has such basic rules compared to the complexity and options games offer today. And if they don't change anything, its main appeal would be the nostalgia for the people that likely already own it if they wanted it today.

if they would find a balance between the simpel rules the originial game has and the complexer rules of descent I think they could once more have a winner. But I still don't think they are going to reprint it anytime soon...

I'd be amazed at delighted at this.

I really loved the idea of tailoring my dungeon to what I want by just buying a few miniatures. As much as I NOW currently detest Warhammer and Warhammer 40k, due to the high volume of miniatures you have to purchase, I'd easily overlook this if Warhammer Quest came out with it's solo capabilities and stats for every available mini. Build a mini Chaos Army/Undead/Ork/Skaven/Whatever-else-you-want-to-theme-your-dungeon as and inadvertently get into Fantasy? sure why not.

It would make sense that they aren't going to have Fantasy Flight produce it seeing as they would basically be competing with themselves with Descent.

As far as how I feel about an actual Hero Quest being recreated, I wouldn't mind this also, my only hope would be higher quality everything.

I too would love to see a new release of Warhammer quest. Old copies are way overpriced. but then, I hope it has a wider release than space Hulk as even that new game is far over priced already.

Well, if they do the route that Hollywood does, then a reprint will have changes.

However, they did to a reprint of Life, but also added extra things into it, such as the life tiles. The board itself is also updated to reflect trends. Even the original Monopoly got a reprint with higher prices to reflect "inflation" as they put it. I'm not counting all of the other, what I call, Monopoly clones though, they are still different in their own way.

Would be a good update and possibly add in a couple more different boards into it.

Could use some more expansions too, even though it was meant to create your own quests.

It's likely and I could see the main reason for a WQ re-release is the same as SH, the copyright has ended and if GW doesn't develop the game it leaves it open for otherers to take the title and re-lease their own version of the game, atleast that's the way I understand it.

I don't know if Heroquest will ever get a re-release since Hasbro/Milton Bradley owns the rights and title for the game not GW, that's why they had to cancel Advanced Heroquest and create Warhammer Quest instead and cancelled Advanced Space Crusade and call it Tyranid Attack, a title also owned by Hasbro.

Is this why HQ expansions are declining in selling price on Ebay? Or are people realizing how outrageous the price is for the Barbarian or elf expansions. I just sold my elf Quest for half of what the usual sell amount had been.

I have more expansions if anyone is interested.

Rumors have it reprinted indeed. These rumors have also reached Italy.
However, afaik the name "HeroQuest" is copyrighted by someone else than GW (for an RPG), therefore it may be a Warhammer Quest reprint. Which is not so bad - on a second thought it would be GREAT news. Caution, however: other rumors have that the reprint will be Blood Bowl, although that would make very little sense indeed, as Blood Bowl is still in the Specialist Games section of the GW machine and there is a card game coming out from FFG about Blood Bowl as well.

Rumors are just that... rumors..
But did you hear about Rob Schneider? Somebody told me he goes down to Home Depot and pays the migrant workers to go to his house and choke him in the shower.
