This week, the Hasbro U-Build games are on sale for $12.99 at Toys R Us (reg. $19.99). Any comments on whether any of them are worth getting? U-Build Monopoly sounds intriguing, and U-Build Battleship might be fun for kids (assuming it includes enough pieces to make a decent variety of ships).

Is Minotaurus a U-Build game?

No, that's one of the new Lego games (there are about 2 dozen of those, and they all seem pretty weak as games). The U-Build games include:

U-Build Monopoly
U-Build Battleship
U-Build Connect 4
U-Build Mouse Trap
U-Build Sorry!

I would agree with you on the Lego games with the exception of the newly released Harry Potter Harry Potter Hogwarts. I was surprised at what it could become. Yes the basic mechanism is still controlled with a die, but that could easily be replace with cards for each player, and they included enough extra pieces for expansion and alteration capabilities that I could see it becoming a potentially decent strategy game (with the constantly changing board).

But not to side track things, I am not sure that I would be up to playing Monopoly, even with the dynamic board. I find most of the people that would play it with me are either those who don't know how to play by the rules, or National Champions of the original game and would probably complain about the change of the dynamic of the game.

And, wasn't Mouse Trap a "you build" game anyway?

No, Mouse Trap was a "you build" toy...

I'd like to see the new version, maybe the Rube Goldberg contraption will work more consistantly.

Weak as games, but the Lego dice look pretty cool.

Most of them are pretty weak, but I've heard nothing but great things about Creationary. I really keep meaning to get it...

U-Build Battleship is actually quite fun. Unfortunately, I feel that a second copy is needed to have enough pieces to customize your fleet.

I thought the U-Build Connect 4 looked pretty slick, as it seems you build a pachinko-style series of baffles that you drop the discs down, adding an interesting dexterity element to the game

If only I could find a way to add Monopoly U-build to my collection...

Battleship U-build looks good, may see about picking it up for my nephew.
