Does anybody else periodically check the "Recent Trades" link of the Trades section ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/trademgr.php3?action=completedt... ), just to see how other people are valuing games? I find it oddly fascinating.

Not for me
I tried about 5 trades with the manager and didn't receive a reply from any of the other people.

I'd like to see a "Drop you for inaction clause" if you don't come back to the Geek in 60-90 days with a longer offline archive on request IF they come back.

kensington?
After reading that, I'm figuring there's someone out there who will take my copy of Kensington and send me:

-Evo
-Trias
-Paths of Glory
-Swords and Sorcery
-A Mighty Fortress
-and Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage

in return!

Maybe if I use a bunch of redtraingreentrainbluetrain in my trade offer?

Remember there could be money or other factors involved that we can't see in the trade manager.

Robin,

I don't care one way or another about people offering trades in their own journals, but please don't use mine - unless I'm getting commission bag devil

I love checking out the recent trades! It's the same reason I always check the Ultimate Trade geeklists. Maybe I just love to see what other geeks consider equal value... or maybe I feel a vicarious thrill whenever somebody else makes off like a bandit in a deal I would have made. I don't really know why I enjoy it so much....

It provides hope.
It tells me that trades do happen, in spite of all the ignored trade offers I've made. Now, I've done OK trading here on the 'Geek, but I agree with the comment above in that I get such a poor response rate to Trade Manager trade proposals. I'd much rather hear "no" than just the crickets chirping.

It's all relative.....
I ahve made some trades that have been a advantage for the other guy, if you want to consider the so called what thier worth. I prefer to just trade for what I enjoy.

I have a whole slew of games I'm getting ready to unload. War of Imperialism, Napoleon in Europe, Fortress America, RISK 2210AD and Doom are just a few of them.

I never noticed that link until I read this journal. I was periodically checking how users value games via Market Info, but I like this a lot more.

No kidding! He got what has already been shown to be the
"Greatest game EVER" (see journal 5717) for five pieces of crap.

Unbalanced trades...
I've made unbalanced trades that include one person throwing in some cash, or paying shipping for both sides. I always assume that the drastically unbalanced trades involve arrangements of this sort, even if they don't appear in the manager...
