Anyone else here into marble runs? I had a Spacewarp set from the early 90's that was ridiculously hard to put together, and am getting a Magnext ICoaster tomorrow. Gravity + marbles is a surprisingly satisfying distraction for me.. anyone else?

I used to love playing with my Marbleworks set when I was a kid.

I had a Spacewarp set when I was a kid as well. Fun stuff.

On a somewhat related note, my cousin had this marble clock when I was little, and I always wanted one (but never got one).. I loved watching it switch from one hour to the next.

You can still get these rolling ball clocks from the better kids toys catalogs at Christmas time. We got one for my son and he still has it. I don't think he'd ever part with it.

Well... this guy built his own setup. And he seems pretty content with it... in a OCD-lovin' way.

My son has a set of wooden blocks with chutes and holes and such. He's finally gotten to an age where he can actually build stuff with it and has figured out how to get it to start a domino drop as well.

Very cool stuff.

This guy is really into marbles and has built some great stuff.

I never had one as a kid, and didn't really want one... but now that I am watching them I would have really enjoyed it.

I am really interested in this:

I could easily loose a couple weekends making my own from paper.

I wonder what would happen if that guy lost his marbles?

Wow, I remember sitting in a store in the 80's as a kid totally fascinated by this clock! After all this time, I really think I need to buy one...

Having built spacewarp in the past, totally can appreciate the challenge of building something like this!

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

A couple of years ago my wife and I decided that Santa would bring a Marble Run set to our son for Christmas. We found one in a "retro" catalog but thought the price was outrageous. We kinda gave up on the idea, then I ran across a set in the American Science & Surplus catalog. In fact, it was so much cheaper there, we ordered two sets from AS&S, and even after adding the shipping and a good-sized tub from Hobby Lobby to keep them in, we still saved about 40% (IIRC) over the cost from the retro catalog.

Unfortunately, Iain doesn't always put the parts back in their assigned tub, so a few bits have gotten stepped on and crushed. But he still gets it out every so often and builds a tall run using the extra pieces.

I smell xmas present!! I'm also thinking, forget the fridge, I'm getting a huge magnetic sheet of metal to install on my kids wall.

That's pretty cool. Oh, man, amazon has one with bonus pieces:
http://www.amazon.com/MagNext-29310US-iCoaster-Bonus-Stunts/...

I'm going to have to add an addition on to my house. ...You know, next to the first addition for board games.

I thrifted mine through craigslist for $20 - highly recommended at that price!

How about one big addition, with space for gaming and marble runs "around" the gaming area? No distraction at all! lol
