I know, I know, it's only the last day of August.

But, as mentioned in previous years, to get an even flimsy chance of sending parcels around by the cheap(er) way, whilst avoiding the Christmas time mail clog, recipients , etc, need to be in place by Mid October, the latest...

So, I was thinking, is it time to start the 'recruitment' thread?

People enter, a list of names is gathered, and an organizer pairs them secretly. You should send one or more wargames from your intended recipient's wishlist, and you receive one or more from yours.

I think you can count me in.
I've never enter this sort of thing because my wishlist is always very small and usually full of games that weren't released. As soon as they are publish my interest on them vanishes, but hey... lets spread some happiness.

I'll have to think about it this year. I think I overdid it on secret santas last year. I'll have to decide between this one and the main BGG secret santa.

Are you sure they're pairings? I thought it was a huge loop A->B->C->A so that you don't know who is your SS.

Uncertain at this time. Once I find out whether or not I'm out of a job I can then make a committment, one way or the other.

Is there a limit to the cost of the games you put on your want lists or is it anything goes?

Anything goes, but you list should be balanced, or you may not receive any of them but another game all together.

It's been a big loop the past two years.

The signup last year was by submitting a trade request to this account:

In previous years, I had set a deadline and then randomly created a chain of users. I was assisted by:

This way I had no idea who had me and eliminated possible bias in selection of my own target.

Edit: I'd be happy to run it again this year unless someone has an objection or really, really wants to run it.

Last year only had one failed arrival.

That's the truth.

I'm on a restricted budget this year, so I'll have to think hard about whether it'll be this one or the regular Secret Santa.

I'm in, despite the desire to go all "Bah Humbug" about this showing up while we're still in August!
