How long a drive is it to Essen from Malmo? I ask because if things work out the way I want them to, I'll be moving to Malmo in about a year.

Not sure how long it takes but you basically have to drive through half of Denmark and a third of Germany to get there. It takes less then a day but it is quite a tip. Or you could take the train to Copenhagen, fly to Düsseldorf and take the train into Essen.

I'd be willing to ship some games if shipping costs from the Netherlands aren't a dealbreaker.

I have no idea but i doubt it is that far for an American used to those crazy long commutes! I will check on google maps, why are you coming to Malmö? For work? Anyway, we'd be very happy to welcome you and show you around, set you up with some gaming etc

Well thank you! I'm hoping to do my Ph.D. at ITU Copenhagen, and commute from Malmo. My wife and I visited last summer and decided we would rather live there, as it's very beautiful and she has relatives there. So it's not 100% yet, but if I do get accepted to the school I will be asking lots of gaming-related questions.

As for the drive, well yeah most Americans drive quite a bit. I'm home visiting my parents, and I drove about 7.5 hours yesterday. The cool thing about Europe is a drive like that allows you to see a lot of different things and places. In the US you can drive 1000 kilometers and it all looks the same.
