I was just curious if anyone knew if there were either magazines or websites where you could obtain news about boardgaming (all types--eurogames, wargames, anything). I love coming here to get great advice, reviews, opinions, but I was wondering if there was a site or magazine with news about what's being planned, released, re-released. There are tons of sites to feed my computer gaming information needs, but I can't seem to find something for boardgaming.

And is there a gaming magazine that features a lot of reviews about a diverse selection of games? Games magazine is mostly puzzles and one or two reviews.

Games Magazine
Game Trade Magazine
Games Quarterly
Abstract Games Magazine
Games Infernarional

I guess inquest and scrye are kind of game magazines too.

Of the above the (relatively new) games Quarterly defiantely is my favorite. Games Magazine is more about providing you games than talking about board games. Game Trade consists mostly of pages from Diamond Previews (the comic book cateloge) which I already get. I have never read abstract games or International games. Inquest and scrye are 90% mouthpieces for wiz kids and MtG.

Games International is an EXCELLENT publication, full color, reviews, previews, strategies, feature stories - completely high class. You can even order a few issues through eBay to give it a try before committing to a subscription (and even though it comes from England, the cost with shipping is still cheaper than a lot of magazines on the shelves of book and grocery stores!)

In German:
- Spielbox
- Fairplay
Both of these are quite a bit better than Games International, which is glossy, but very pooly written.

By far the best (and in English) is Counter, which you can order online from Funagain Games.

For Wargaming...
...two mags published by Decision Games might be of interest:

Fire & Movement: reviews, tactics, house rules.

Strategy & Tactics: military history, plus a game in every issue (if you subscribe - news stand copies come without the game).

Thanks for all these suggestions. The Gamewire and Gone Cardboard sites are just what I was looking for. And I'll be sampling these magazines as soon as I can track them down.
