Last nights game we had 4 players again, it was a good game and we had the following random Hero’s
The game was starting when a thunderstorm delayed the beginning as the lights keep going on and off so we sat out the storm, not thinking a new one would soon be upon us.
John and Deb opened with the quests that remove up to six minions each when completed and on the first turn they managed to get rid of 10 minions (Deb 6, John 4). The board actually looked a little empty at the time. Everyone went about getting quests done; John’s second guest got him 2 extra actions a turn. The game took an ugly turn as by the end of turn 3 all of the generals had moved up one space, and the orcs had all but 4 minions on the board. The cry of death to the orc’s rose up in the group and Frank played a special to rid us of 6 orcs and 3 undead. The turn saw 6 more orcs die but 4 returned to the board. Now Balazarg moved again towards Monarch City so we decided to go after him first. Using a special card John got all of the hero’s together for the attack on Balazarg. 14 dice in 12 cards as a team and no one rolled any ones so we got all the dice and John became the Demon slayer. In addition only 3 taint on the board things are looking good.
As we continue to do quests, Frank had the most of any one color of hero cards and that was blue so we started planning on Sapphire being the next target when we got down to 3 orc minions not on the board again so we went orc hunting first. Having cleared off several undead and orcs we attacked Sapphire. John rolled first with the most dice at 5 and rolled no hits. Deb played her special card that let John reroll all of his dice and got 3 hits, with Johnny adding a hit and then Frank finished off Sapphire becoming the Dragon Slayer. Taint had gotten up to 6, and the other two generals were 2 spaces away. We were in pretty good shape, but still the Green and Black minions were a little high on the board.
Things quickly took a turn for the worse when Gorgutt moved one step closer only to have Frank play his special to stop the move but the next card moved Varkolak to within one of Monarch City. With the orcs minions and Gorgutt getting close we started gathering green cards when Gorgutt moved again and now both Gorgutt and Varolak were one step from Monarch City and defeat for us.
We made our play as we all move towards Gorgutt, we killed orc minions and undead on the way. It worked as we got to Gorgutt, and when the dice cleared we had inflicted 12 hits on Gorgutt and no one rolled a single parry. Deb became the Orc slayer. We looked around and there was 9 taint on the board, 3 generals dead and we had 6 black cards between us and Varkolak was not far away. We had this one in the bag.
Disaster strikes, orc war parties, and green minion placement orc’s everywhere we fall to the orc hoard as all the green minions make in onto the board. Johnny says we are saved I have one on my quest card. I have to give him the bad news I need 2 more to place We LOSE.
We are now 1 win and 1 lost, in 4 player games and 1 Win and 1 Lost in 2 player games.
Let the games continue. The group of us really enjoy this game so I am sure we will have more reports soon.
DON'T TELL MY WIFE I SPENT ALL MY GEEKGOLD ON OVERTEXT!
Thanks for the report. I'm really enjoying the buzz on this game and its on my must buy soon list. I think its just right to take my wife to the next level in gaming experience (currently at TTR and Carcasonne level) but still hopefully deep and enjoyable enough for my regular hard core gaming group to give it a go.
