When I posted a comment to a geeklist item it didn't show up. Posted it again, didn't show up. I tried hitting the 'refresh' button for the page, and then both comments were there.

Something glitchy. Related to the new way that 'preview' is being done?

I just tried it again and saw the same problem; I had to refresh to see my comment.

(The new popup preview with strange looking window borders etc is less pleasing to me as well, in any case.)

Still doing it on Firefox. They do get posted, but they seemed to be delayed.

OK, it should be fixed now.

For the person who said preview didn't look right--did it look as if it was broken for your browser, or do you just not like the new window display?

It was functional, but sort of ugly (subjective call, of course), since:

1. I'm not so fond of popups anyway.

2. It darkened the main browser window behind the popup, which I found disorienting and annoying as that steals the psychological context from me, and it also creates an overly dramatic effect (as if there's some serious system error message or the browser is locking up).

3. The popup window has strange "foreign" looking borders, not like normal popups in my browser, automatically raising in me a feeling of "yuck, it's some nonstandard weird Flash thing" or something.

4. The upper right X to close the window is rather small and hard to see.

Hope that is helpful feedback.

PS: I tested again and confirm that the main bug of the thread is fixed for me - the comment was immediately visible after saving it. thumbsup

Sounds to me like it is working as designed, and you just don't like it for aesthetic reasons.

Mostly aesthetic, yes, although from an ergonomic standpoint, it is hard to see and click the small X, and the darkening of the main browser is jarring/misleading since I normally only see that happen when the browser is locked up from some crazy Flash/Java type program.

Posting before was instantaneous. Now it just sits there, leaving me wondering whether something is wrong. Is the lag designed into the thing?

And because of the lag, for my first geeklist comment under the new system, my comment was double posted. Very annoying.

Still failing when editing a geek list item comment.

The newfangled preview seems to be the culprit.

If you go to edit an existing comment and preview it, it may sometimes work. If you just make your change and click submit, if you wait long enough, your comment will be available to others, but you'll still be on the submit screen until you hit the back button on your browser (Firefox, in this case).
