Suddenly a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.
I just got the game and my first (I am sure of many) question is: When allying with say the red player, if I have a colony on the red player's planet, do I use ships from the colony on the red planet or from my homeworlds?
You only use the up to 4 ships that you send.
Any ships you happen to have on a planet where another player is being attacked are bystanders and are irrelevant.
When you ally with the defense, you may send up to 4 ships from anywhere, including the planet of bystanders.
But, if you send them from among the bystanders, you do not leave them on the planet, but place them next to it.
In fact, you may ally with the offense against another player on a planet where you have a bystanding presence.
In that case, not only would your bystanding ships not be defending, but you could send them to be attacking.
