A few weeks ago during an outcry against the wargames that were nominated for the geekgold awards, I suggested that the wargame forum pick some games that deserved some recognition and we could discuss and vote on them.

the nominees were to be screened by a council of wargamers to ensure their "purity"

.........well I've been super busy as of late and am just now able to take the time and put up a poll for you to vote on and discuss. I'm not going to bother sending out 7 geekmails to the purity judges ......I figured I'd just post the poll and be done with it.

I don't like the sound of "purity judges".
Sounds like they are selecting the Vestal Virgins. whistle

I'm hoping to get a spot on the Vestal Strumpets Selection Committee.

Good morning from the Rules Lawyer:
Normandy 44 came out this year,
Barbarossa: Kiev to Rostov came out in 2008 (I did not check the others, to lazy).

So is this open to every game (your list is just to small ) - then I would nominate:
War in Europe

for last year I'm still clinging to The Battle for Normandy
