Or for that matter, in any FFG game? I think Space Hulk:DA was the only one I kept the insert for.

In life you have to do a lot of things you don't f*cking want to do. Many times, that's what the f*ck life is... one vile f*cking task after another.

No.

Their inserts are made for shipping the games only. That is, limit damage during shipping.

They are not made to hold the games once everything is punched and such.

I've kept it (can't bring myself to throw an insert away), but I had to turn it upside down to be able to fit all the contents back in the box.

I have done this with the FFG inserts.

May I suggest a picture so others can have an idea?

Drakkenstrike's fantastic HD components breakdown video here on BGG was instrumental in deciding how I pack the game.

I bought 2 Plano organizer boxes from the fishing supply area of a local sporting goods store. They fit ALL the tokens and cardboard bits except one - the first player marker.

With the Plano boxes, the map tiles, the Civ cards, the market boards, the cards (separated by color in the ziploc bags that came with the game) and the manual, it's a perfect fit.

I like his videos but I am now calling him "Captain Plano".

With his Plano-centric ideas, he's sure to champion a whole new era of Plano devotees.

With Runewars, I turned the cardboard insert upside down & that helps to store the components.
With other FFG games the insert goes in the bin.

I found Battlestar Galactica's insert to be annoying. All of those cards tend to fall around. I put my large cards in a plastic baseball card box/holder. For everything else, I use a small crafts-organizing box. It's nice to separate your Cylon ships, hit markers, small cards, etc.

But the box won't fit in the insert. I pulled it out, but can't bring myself to toss it.

You just have to invert the insert (fold in the oposite side)
so you will see the colored insert with 2 big valleys and a beam at the center to support the board and the tiles over

I have no life and love plano-porn. Here's how I store my game:

Plano 3600 Pro, in case anybody wondered or wanted to make fun of my sleeving/storing obsession!

Lol Bjorn, I did the exact same thing. I have no idea why, but the thought of throwing away the inserts is almost repulsive to me. Perhaps the thought of dropping $60 plus on a game does that to me, perhaps my completionist attitude. Who knows.

If the playable-ready game doesn't fit in the box with the insert, I usually try to keep the insert and modify it to be opened on one or both ends. Often all thats needed is a piece of tape folded partially on itself to create a pull-tab, used to lift open a portion of the insert.

I also try to keep all the punch stock in the game box, often under every thing or on top. The reason is it helps keep the boxes packed better and packed boxes seem to hold up better when stuffed on the shelf or stacked on top of each other.

I don't have the game yet, but I'm sure I won't keep the insert. Technically it could hold all the pieces, I'm sure, but I like to organize with Plano boxes for quick setup.

The only FFG game I have where the insert was worth keeping is DungeonQuest. The room tiles, figures and cards all fit nicely in the center slot, and the bagged tokens and dice have room on top of the board. Twilight Imperium: Shattered Empire's insert has some use in keeping the cards organized.
