We tend to play so that the deck is shuffled after it ends, and the game continues straight on.

That way card counting tends to get hard after the first time you shuffle the deck. The game gets more tactical too.
With a good hand you can stricke fear into the opponent for a couple of rounds, untill he forces you to use all of those nice 1:ns away. A lot more games end with pushing the other one off the board.

Do you reset the people before you carry on or do you just keep fighting?

I dunno, I kind of like the card counting. The game ending also makes board position a lot more important, insofar as you can force a win based on ebing farther ahead than your opponent. Whatever floats your boat, though.
