What was your best tactical move in a wargame. For me it was probably Breitenfeld (SPI) while playing in the Auburn University dorm in the late 1970s. My friend played the Swedes and had moved Gustavus Adolphus up front with a light escort. I moved some light and heavy cavalry units toward his position. My light, but less powerful, cavalry quickly crossed the field, defeated the escort, and captured Adolphus. As they withdrew back toward my lines, the heavy, but slower, cavalry moved forward and provided a screen against my opponent's attempts to free Adolphus. Proved to be the turning point in the game and truly demonstrated the utilization of light and heavy cavalry of the period.

It wasn't mine, it was my opponent's... We were playing BattleLore and he propped a Dwarven contingent on Hill and it sat there the ENTIRE game, fighting off attack-after-attack-after-attack-after-attack, practically single-handedly winning the game for him.

It wasn't *exactly* a stroke of tactical genius when he did it, but it turned out that way.

For it's effort, the unit was awarded the Meritorious Order of Gimli Medal for Valor (my friend made that up).

This was like 3 years ago, and we still talk about it.

I once "accidentally" kicked the table with enough force to scatter the chess pieces across the floor. I was losing at the time.

The first time I played War of the Ring with my neighbor, I explained the rules very poorly and he left Saruman in Isengard completely undefended, allowing me to kill him with basically no effort.
