Happy holidays, everyone!

I am going with my wife to visit her mother for Christmas. I am planning to hit up a quality board game store while I am there, but I don't know anything about the area. Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks!

Cody

There are many, what kind of games are you looking for?

On the east side, there are Uncle's Games in Redmond (Redmond Town Center) and Bellevue (Crossroads Mall). Uncle's is kind of mainstream. The Redmond store is a bit bigger. There's also Games & Gizmos in Redmond. It's a smaller shop.

In Woodinville we have Ernie's games. A newer shop with a pretty decent variety of stuff (Warhammer, board games, RPGs).

In Seattle, there are probably a lot of new stores since I lived there, but I'm sure Gary's is still around in Greenwood. They have used games and you used to be able to find some good deals there (not as much now that ebay is around). There's also Gamma Ray Games on Capitol Hill. American Eagles in Lake City is probably the best place for wargamers, though their stock is old and no where near where it was in the glory days. They also have miniatures, models and train stuff in the basement.

Just search these on Google to find out more.

Yeah this thread is good but some of these shops aren't around any more. Call or do some internet searches before going.

Big thumbs up to:

Ernie's Games (in Woodinville)
Uncles Games (in Redmond and Bellevue, both are nice, but I prefer the Redmond store if only because the mall is a bit nicer)
Cardhaus (limited hours, but internet prices in Lynwood?)

There are several others in Seattle that I haven't been to yet (and forget the names of), but are well thought of.

Hope you have a fun visit here!

If you're in the South Sound Tacoma/Olympia there is The Game Matrix in Tacoma, Danger Room Comics in Olympia carries some games as does Evolution Comics in Puyallup

Thanks for all the responses, gang!

I am just looking for a good game store that has a wide variety of games (and probably not war games or miniatures). I love stores that have a huge variety and are split up such as "economic game," "transportation games," etc.

But the biggest factor by far is the breadth of the merchandise. Thanks for the suggestions!

Looks like I have narrowed it down to:

Uncle's Games
Ernie's Games
Gary's Games
Blue Highway Games
Board Game Haus

I'm thinking I'll start at the Uncle's Games in Redmond, providing they are open on Christmas Eve.

Thanks again. It really rocks that gamers have a forum to do conversations just as this!

I have been to
Uncle's Games
Ernie's Games
Gary's Games

Uncle's is your best choice. They have three stores
Southcenter Mall - biggest selection, about 10 minutes from SeaTac airport
Redmond Town Center - almost same size selection
Crossroads Mall in Bellvue - smallest selection

But inventory can vary between stores - especially at this time of the year.

I recommend Green Lake Games. They have an incredibly good selection.

Metro Seattle Gamers* is having it's all-day holiday game fest on Wednesday, December 29. So if you're in town and would like to join in, give me a shout for details.

*Metro Seattle Gamers is a not-for-profit club located near downtown Seattle in the Interbay area.

Does anyone know if Games Plus moved from Woodinville? I thought I read about this relocation on BGG a few months ago.

Games Plus moved to Lake Stevens, north of Seattle. They have a website...

In the Bellevue/Redmond area, the Uncles Games at Crossroads has the best boardgame selection. Games and Gizmos in Redmond has the best Warhammer selection.
