I'm wondering if I'm missing something with the exchange cards that let you trade your pawn for one on your opponent's side. It seems that the most common response to this is just to play your own exchange card and put it back. This continues until someone runs out of this type of card. Am I missing something here, or is that just the way it goes?

This can be one way to play them but I find it more effective to keep an exchange card in reserve so I can position my pawns for the perfects points exchange and round end. Its a case of not letting your opponent into what you are trying to accomplish and then doing the swap when its to your advantage.

If they take one of your peaces you need to evaluate does it REALLY matter considering your pawn choice.

Hope this helps
