We played Primordial Soup for the 1st time last night and had a question regarding the purchasing of Genes. This may be a dumb question but I couldn't find a reference to it in the rule book or summary card.

Since there was no explicit statement regarding which Genes are available for purchase, we just assumed that any player could (in turn order) buy any gene that he wanted and was allowed to buy. So, the 1st player could say he wanted Intelligence and Speed and buy them, removing them from the deck of Genes. Then the next player would buy and so on.

I've saw a reference for the Expansion Genes in the German version about drawing 3 Genes and adding them to the available Genes, so now Im wondering if we did something wrong.

So are all Genes not already taken available each turn ??

Re:Gene Selection Question
It is simply all Genes not yet taken are available each turn.

The expansion is a different thing, if you play with the full gene set with the wrong players ... this could take for a while, therefore the drawing rule was suggested.
