"Should be interesting" he said trolling a line into the geek infested waters and throwing chum about "wonder if douglas would have been happy?"

Trailers with stephen fry as the book, good choice!!

True geeks should be waiting in this line and not the the Episode Three line. I'll be there in a Zaphod costume knocking back the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters and kicking the crap out of some guy dressed up like Darth Maul. Who's with me?

I'm afraid I won't be able to enjoy it, being a fan of the BBC version. They probably won't even turn that missile into a whale! But with the help of the Infinite Improbability Drive, it'll be a hit.

Mary,
I wouldn't be too worried. The official movie poster does have a whale in the upper right hand corner. I know that Douglas wrote the first draft, of course he wrote it with changes. I recall a quote from him once pointing out that no two versions were exactly the same (Radio vs. TV vs. books).

I quite enjoyed the TV series, but nothing will ever compare to the first page of the first book when I was about twelve. It went on about the bypass going from point A to point B and the council worker wanting to live at point C, which was a very long way away from points A and B and spending a lot of time at point D, which was the nearest pub to point C...

Anyway, I had to stop reading or I would literally burst something.

Quite looking forward to the movie, so long as they don't let the budget go to their heads and try to make it into a "real" science fiction movie - it was always about the verbal humour. The sci-fi stuff is almost redundant.

Earth - Mostly Harmless

Man, you know I just remembered that's where the word "hoopy" came from. A bunch of my friends and I used that word in normal conversation for years!

Ooh a little higher, now a bit to the left, a little more, a little more, just a bit more. Oooh yes, that's the spot!

I saw a preview of this and it looked quite good. Since I taped the radio series back in the 80s and have listened to it more times than I care to remember I am going to have problems with the fact that Zaphod seems to spend an inordinate amount of time with "just the one head".

It potentially ruins little bits of dialogue like

Athur - "Go bang your heads together four eyes" and

Receptionist - "Well who do you think you are honey, Zaphod Beeblebrox?"
Zaphod - "Yeah count the heads".

I will try and get over this before seeing the movie meeple

Based on what I've read and what I've seen in the trailers, I'll be in the SW Episode III line. I'm highly skeptical about HHTG. The screenwriter had never read the books. The artistic direction looks like crap at first glance. Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck...
