Well we are beginning our first melee and we need some help
I (red) chose the unit KT 8 4 with the Yellow marker at K$(ignore the highlighted leader)

attacking his KT 4 - 4

+1 for my unit itself 1
+1 for leader 0
+2 for combat modifier 2 0
+1 for cavalry effective 0
The multiplier is 1
The blue unit is the same

So red base is 8 , blue is 4

Red rolls a 6 Blue roll is a 6

Red gets a plus 1 for flank attack

Red receives a +2 for having a base strength (8) twice blue (+4)

The total seems to be Red 8base+6die +1flank +2 ration = 17
to blue 4 base + 6 die = 10 ... EN

The unit remains disordered and that is all

Seems odd with that powerful of an attack that he wasnt eliminated. Are we counting this right?

I believe it should be
Red
Die roll (6) in this case
+ 2 for combat ratio
+1 for attack vector

=9

Blue
Die roll (6)
No mods
=6

9/6 = EN both sides disordered, gain a red dot

Craig has got it right.

With regards to the strength of the attack not eliminating the defender. Remember that you rolled the best possible roll for the defender. Assume you rolled the worst (1). That would eliminate him. Even a slightly better than average roll by Red (4) vs a slightly worse than average roll (3) would eliminate the defender (7:3). Assume slightly better than average rolls by both sides, but a one-point increase in the Attack Vector modifier (10:4), another elimination.

In ABD, you make your own luck, but there are still no sure things.

Maybe not the best idea to bring up luck at the moment. His archers evaporated under the hooves of my charging knights! We are having fun. His new troops will be rolling in and with his leaders, things will get tough for me (I only have 1 leader). Can I reform the line before that happens?!??! Need to rally my guys quickly on the next turn.

Oh by the way, we edited the vassal module to add some nice markers to keep track of things. We have submitted the new mod to VP and asked the vassal mods to approve for all. Anyone want a copy let me know
