Are there any games out there with two or more boards that somehow rest on top of each other? I've seen a version of chess with multiple boards that stack on top of each other, and are supported by vertical "table legs."

If there's a list out there, or someone who could create a list, I'd pay in cash-money prizes... or hugs, your choice.

Thanks

I would start a list with The Queen's Gambit and Key to the Kingdom, just two games that come to mind first.

How about Sub Search?

On a side note, I swear there was a listed devoted to this exact issue, which is what made me think of Sub Search in the first place. I didn't see it on the list though.

Oh wow, the memories! I had completely forgotten that this game existed. I played it a ton when I was a kid. The school library had a couple of copies of it and we would play over lunch on winter days. How did I ever forget?

(Sorry for the tangent. Back to your reguarly scheduled stacking board thread.)

How about the Star Trek chess-like game, with multiple boards? I've seen one at a friend's place, but I don't know if it's a real game with rules. It's not on bgg, so I guess it's not real. shake

Edit: Found it, it exists! http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/3499

This would have been an idea for a geeklist...

Maulwurf Company (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/321) has several layers.
It could qualify...

Thanks for the replies... I didn't think there would be so many out there. I'm about 80% finished with a game I've been working on for some time. The biggest problem I have is with creating a multi-dimensional board. It has to be 2-tiered, but also fairly large. The problem is with aesthetics and the stability of the upper board... the larger the boards are, the higher up the second tier would have to sit.

I'd wondered what a clear plastic upper board would look like, Chopper Strike gives me an idea.

Thanks again

Filthy Rich in 3-D (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/441) has a 4-level stacking "board" consisting of 4 pages of card protectors (like for Collectible Card Game cards, or baseball cards) in a thin binder. Clever mechanic for a game, but probably not suited for the generic multi-board game (where you'd be interested in the pieces under the "top" piece in a given column, and you'd likely be moving the pieces around more).
