I've just started with the game and want to first learn about the weapons and missions before turning to the pilots so the random pilot choice seemed the way to go. Rather than figure out which plane counters to put in I wrote a web app to pick the squadrons for me. Enter the scenario, length and Navy or Marines and an appropriate set of pilots will be chosen and the total SO cost or benefit of the squadron will be displayed. The app has been optimized to work well on the iPhone but it will work in any web browser on any platform.

Thanks to DVG for the inspiring game and to borlaym for his Labyrinth solitaire play aid site which gave me the idea.

Please let me know if you see any problems with the site.

Thanks.

Hi, in my browser, I can not see any numbers to choose Length, Service or Scenario. The numbers are not visible.

I checked on a bunch of browsers on Win and Mac and it looks OK for me. What browser and platform are you using?

I must be getting the same results as Szymon. While the text for the selections are not visible, I can still make a selection from a blank drop down menu. The app does return a random pilot roster.

I am using Mozilla Firefox (v3.6.13) on Windows 7 PC.

Edit:

I just tried in IE, and it worked fine for me. Maybe something with Firefox?

Firefox bug-

You have:
-option label="Short" value="Short"--/option-

But label is in the wrong spot.
-option value="Short"-Short-/option-

http://htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/forms/option.html
In practice, many browsers ignore OPTION's LABEL attribute even though they support OPTGROUP and its LABEL.

Edit: Huh. Code tags work in Preview, but not when you post. I had to remove all the < and > up there. I replaced them with - so I hope you can read it. Basically, "label" isn't standard. The text goes outside.
