About 6 years ago I started a thread asking about who had the largest tracked game collection, and Matthew Gray ran some great numbers and came up with some nice metrics. i.e. the largest collection, where the number of games owned put you in comparison to the entire BGG membership, etc. etc.

I am wondering if the power that be could maybe run this again, to see where we stand today?

The Friendless stat site gives you some of this data but only for those people who have signed up. The site pulls data from BGG.

http://friendless.servegame.org/stats/

The top listed user has 3545 games.
Aldie is listed at 2167 (#3)
There are 4 people with collections >2000
There are 9 people in the top 1% of users on the site (>1600 games)
41 users have 1000 games or more (that's roughly the top 5%).
153 users have 500 games or more (approximately the top 17%).
206 users have 400 or more games owned.
327 users have 300 or more games owned (approximately top 35%).
477 users have 200 or more games owned (roughly top 50%)
747 users have 100 or more games owned (about top 80%)

These percentages are most likely not representative of BGG as a whole, I am guessing the median is much closer to the the 16 games that it was in 2005 than the 200 you are getting from friendless.

Yes, of course this wouldn't come near to BGG as a whole. This is only BGG users who have signed up on the Friendless stat site. I think it is more representative of the hard core user however. You'll notice that only 20% of the users have 100 games or less.

I would be keen to see this data as well.

Just over a year ago there was a more recent update -- see this thread for both a 2008 update and a 2010 update.
