Too bad it looks like it's going to be cards instead of miniatures. I would love to have a little plastic pea-shooter. And a tiny plastic brain for the zombies to eat.

I had posted a thread suggesting a board game (tower defense with two players) in Off Topic a long time ago before Plants and Zombies was a household name. It received less than a lukewarm response.

Stronghold is essentially a tower defense game, right?

I've seen forum threads related to tower defense games in the past. I've always mentioned the same two:

Rebel Moon Defense This was actually designed specifically based on tower defense games. Haven't tried it myself, though.

Duel in the Dark This sure feels like a tower defense game, but more realistically thematic. One player sets up defenses and the other attacks on a programmed path.

I'll be interested in seeing how Plants vs. Zombies turns out.

Very low chance that this is going to be a "gamer's game" though... more likely to be a very light family game but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Some of us like light family games...

I like gamer's games too, but if the game is good, I don't care how heavy it is.

Yes. I imagined P v Z as a print and play game where you built a defense, and randomly drew zombies to attack it. The way the game looks, it looks a bit like Dungeon Lords.

I always thought the plant selection step would work well as a board game mechanism.

I think it feels pretty tower defense like.
