This Saturday is the
Ashland Library Gamenight

I bring about 200 boardgames of all kinds and we usually get a nice group of 50-80 people. It's in the downstairs Gresham room (same room as the Teen Day) from 5 to 11 pm.

Win A Game!

This month Funagain Games has donated Airships for our food drive raffle. For each non-perishable food item you bring you'll be entered to win this light dice-fest game by Andres Seyfarth (Puerto Rico, Thurn & Taxis...). All of the food is gathered for the Ashland Food Project which provides food for all of the food banks in the area. Food is gathered and distributed every other month. During the last collection, just this past weekend, there was over 31,000 pounds of food distributed! Not bad for a community of just over 20,000.

Teen Day
On the same day, in the same room, is the Teen Day hosted by the Ashland Library from Noon until 3:30 pm. We have a number of game consoles and snacks (apples, pretzels, chips, cookies, quacamole...). I bring most of the game night boardgames to this event (since it's in the same room). It's usually a noisy, fun afternoon with about 25-40 teens.

So if you are in the area, please come join us!

I saw your geeklist and am quite interested in this event, I'll have to get a group from Portland together sometime to come down Also, I'm pretty interested in running a event that isn't entirely dissimilar to this in Portland, so I might have to get your advice sometime.

YearOfTheCat,

You don't need to travel 5 hours to game... you live in one of a small group of cities in the US that are considered boardgaming meccas!

There are numerous, weekly boardgame get togethers in town, and of course the yearly Gamestorm. If you haven't been to Gamestorm sign-up now: http://www.gamestorm.org/
Gamestorm 13 is the weekend at the end of March this year (the last weekend of spring break). I'll be there with my three boys!

You are also only 1 1/2 hours away from Eugene which has a thriving game group called Eugene Game Gala:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/EugeneGamesGala/

Corvallis (only about an hour or so from Portland) has a fairly active gaming group and a yearly convention:

Lebanon (about the same distance as Corvallis) hosts the yearly Lebanonacon, usually around mid October. Contact Roger Monk: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/user/Rog.

Whew... just seems like a long way to go for someone in the midst of all that gaming goodness.
