Hi,

Here is a simple n-in-a-row game, using a stack of spheres: Spline

Give it a try.

Thx!

With due respect and out of interest, what is the point of this game?

I'm sorry. I don't understand the question.

Are you asking if it is interesting and why?

Yes, that is a good way to understand the question.

Without playing it (although you could easily play the 4x4 version with a Pylos set, only mine is on a ship somewhere), I'd fear that there were too many opportunities for degeneracy where the game outcome is guaranteed (but not determined) from very early on.

It could be interesting to play with briefly and see whether that's a deal-breaker.

Glancing at the rules, it appears to be iterated tic-tac-toe. It would be more interesting (but fiddly to score I guess) if vertical lines could also be constructed. Perhaps only exterior ones.

Pylos is saved from triviality-by-ordering by permitting the creation of groups that allow pieces to be taken back.

I cannot tell you yet (secret). It is not interesting by itself, but it's the beggining of something interesting.

You will know soon.

Yes, the game lasts only 13 turns, per player at most. And the number of moves available decreases quickly. So it is not deep at all.

So what is the deal here?
