The reporter and the scientist went to the athletic field and discovered a withered corpse. The other investigators visited the science hall, but no event occurred. The cultists completed their secret rights and gained a summoning point.

The next round, the reporter and private eye visited the anthropology hall and fought a cultist. The scientist and doctor went to the science hall and found the town drunk.

Next, the private eye and doctor traveled to the athletic field, battled a cultist and gained the magic ring. The reporter and scientist investigated the library and found another withered corpse.

The private eye visited the library, but was not able to find the tome. The doctor and reporter visited the campus green and battled an insane student. Afterward they gained an ally, the adventurer. The scientist went to the athletic field, but no event occurred.

The private eye and scientist went to the science hall, but again missed finding the tome. Everyone else went to the campus green where a tentacle creature drove them all insane, except for the doctor who was injured and went to the infirmary. The adventurer and reporter were released and the cultists successfully completed another secret rite.

The scientist again traveled to the campus green hoping to defeat the tentacle creature, but he was driven insane. Everyone else visited the science hall where an angry young man was dispatched and the tome was finally found (probably in the non-fiction section). The doctor was released from the infirmary.

After his release, the doctor went to read the tome to gain some mythos points. The reporter, adventurer and private eye stormed the library where a hunting horror drove them all insane. All were released except for the scientist who killed himself. This was a serious setback, as the scientist was one of the few investigators who had a chance to look upon the horrors of monsters and not go insane. The cultists completed another secret rite.

The reporter and doctor went to battle the tentacle creature at the campus green, but were driven insane. Both were released.
The reporter and doctor decided to try out the hunting horror and were driven insane. The doctor then committed suicide.

After this the game seemed to enter a vicious cycle where the investigators could do nothing. The remaining investigators did not have the stats to pass insanity checks against the hunting horror and the tentacle beast. The cultist continued to place tiles only on those two locations along with items that raised the summoning level when revealed. Since no tiles were defeated, the cultist did not draw any additional so there was no chance of drawing a tile that would be required to placed in another location. Likewise, the investigators could not obtain an ally or items to help without going through the hunting horror or tentacle beast. This was a somewhat unsatisfying and anticlimactic end. There was nothing to do, but declare it a loss for the investigators and Nyarlathotep was eventually summoned and took up residence at Miskatonic University…

For those familiar with the game, you might comment if you think we did something wrong. We had fun playing until the session seemed to stagnate – there were investigators left, but they had no chance of defeating the two monsters and the cultist then only played tiles on those two locations. Overall, the game provided a good Lovecraftian flavor and I’m sure we’ll play again sometime and perhaps get a different result.

Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.

Thanks for posting this session. I wasn't familiar with this pnp game and have now added it to my continuously growing collection of Lovecraftian themed games.
