So, here's my situation:

I'm going to buy both Hammer of the Scots AND Richard III.
Currently, I own War of 1812 and Julius Caesar.

But due to financial constraints, I'm going to buy HotS and R3 one at a time.

So, my question is:

In which order should I buy them?

I'd say RIII.

The two games aren't that much different. I'd suggest you buy them based on your interest--do you prefer the Scottish Wars or the Wars of the Roses.

One last tour here on the Death Star and I can retire. What was that noise?!

I would say you should buy based on the coolness of the titles.

RIII is just the name of a king.whistle

HotS not only has the word Hammer in it, but is from the Latin insciption on the tomb of a king, 'Edwardus Primus Scottorum Malleus hic est - Here is Edward I, Hammer of the Scots'. If that is not enough, you can always say that you have the hots for HotS. Just cooler all the way 'round.cool

Edit: Yes, I know I left off the 'Pactum Serva' part.

I must think over my position and how I may improve it.

HotS, for sure. I've got many hours of enjoyment from it.

There were some balance questions raised about R3 which haven't been answered to my satisfaction; whereas, I found HotS to have the perfect learning curve and balance.

YMMV.

Are you buying them online? If so I would save up and get both at same time if the option exists for free shipping. If not get a third smaller game for the free shipping offer and in the long run get more bang for the buck.

If your buying locally I would go Hammer myself.
