We played our first game last night and were a bit confused as to how the NPC ships were supposed to function.

Some event cards introduce new NPC ships onto the board, and some event cards could move some of the existing ships on the board, but at what point do the NPC ships ACTUALLY scout for attacking?

They scout at two times: At the start of a targets turn (if the target starts its turn in their seasone) and when a target enters their sea sone.

NPC pirates scout for non-pirates, NPC naval ships scout for pirates and players they are at war with.
