Robert Jordan wrote a trilogy called the Wheel of Time that turned out to be twelve books long (averaging about 800 pages each). Robert Jordan indeed wrote 12 books, unfortunately one of the 12 was a prequel so there was no last book. Brandon Sanderson was assigned the mantle of finishing it, and went through all of Jordan's apparently extensive notes doing what some fans considered to be a better job than Jordan. Where it is funny here is that he turned the last book's notes into a trilogy (about 900 pages each) and there is one book left to be written.

See: hilarious.

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

Everything I read about the Wheel of Time series makes me so glad I never started reading it, and this just reinforces that.

I read the first 7 books (or so, I can't remember as they all blur together). When I stopped reading I was going to wait until they were all done to finish before going back. Now I don't think I will ever go back since I would probably need to reread the first books again. I don't think I could slog though the entire series.

YOU'RE A BAD, BAD MAN!

Not so much for Wheel of Time, but as was mentioned above, the continuation of The Stormlight Archive.

I gave up on Wheel of Time after Winter's Heart. I may. May. Pick it up again when all is said and done, but right now I'm more pissy that Stormlight book 2 is delayed because the supposedly "final book" in WoT magically became a trilogy. Let's all put on our surprised faces.
