You think that's bad... take a look at the inventory of the individual boxes... 300, 400, even 500+ on some of them!!!

I've never heard of it either, thus the post and the question, "Worth picking up?"

I'd love any feedback from anyone that has played.

Thanks in advance!!

No fair! They're using brains against us! We removed our brains to make room for guns and explosives!

Remember reading the rules when this came out. Looked decent.

The models looked fantastic. The problem was the price: $20+ for a single human sized plastic model was just too much for my wallet.

It's either a great deal on a very underrated game or a decent deal on a very overpriced game. Can't decided which one...

Ditto. It's difficult enough for me to find time to play games. No way I'm going to spend hours assembling then (very poorly) painting minis before I play. You want my $ then publish your game with prepainted minis.

I wonder how many miniatures are in the complete set... and if it be worth the time to cannibalize them for other games...

From the pictures on the boxes and descriptions on Miniature Market:

~60 minis (14-17/faction)
24 custom dice
80 "tokens"
?? Combat Cards
~60 Stat Cards (one per mini??)

If they're that overstocked, I would wait for even further reductions. Come Christmas time, they'll practically be giving them away.

Alkemy is made in Europe by Kraken Editions. It looks like they are discontinuing their plastic minis and converting to all metal so they are trying to move the discontinued minis. I'm betting that Miniature Market just bought all of the plastic product left in the US from the distributor at fire sale prices much like they did for Rackham/Confrontation/AT-43.

I remember when this line came out. Very nice looking, and a pal picked up a set and on a close look the minis were nice and detailed, but seemingly fragile.

The price though, wow. Yeah, this is a steal compared to the original MSRP, or even the original street price. On a per fig cost it's pretty good for buying into the system with a bang, at under $2 per fig. Plus you get dice, cards, and other stuff (at least in each of the starter boxes).

I never played it though so I have no idea how good the game actually is.

I was looking at this also and purchased.

The game seems worth giving a go and if the rules aren't to my taste the mini's look nice and can be repurposed for another game.

There are other options for getting cheaper figures.

There are a wide variety of 1/72 scale figures where the individual cost is about a quarter each.

There are a few fantasy figures, but most are geared towards historical wargaming. There are quite a few medieval figures that can fit into fantasy gaming.

Kings of War plastic figures are often under $1 per figure.

Many many options if someone only wants misc fantasy figs, but for buying into the Alkemy system there's really no better deal than this other than finding a deal from someone offloading theirs.

The Kings of War stuff rocks. Awesome price and finely detailed. I wish they were around back when I was into table top miniature gaming. I still keep my eye on 'em though since I do use mini's sometimes when I run an RPG and they have a nice assortment.

Please let me know how this works out for you when they get in, I'd love to know if it "feels" worth it after it all arrives. First impressions good enough.

Thanks in advance!!!

I already received the order. 20 different boxes making up the 4 factions.

You get 62 mini's (If my quick counting is correct) about 15 per faction.

The mini's seem really nice but I haven't put any together yet or played the game, just reading the rule book right now.

I'm also interested in reading a review of the game play. I have a friend who has been trying to talk me into starting "mini figures" as a hobby. I'm a sculptor, so it sounds a bit like work...but maybe just the fun parts of work.

I really enjoy games, so if the game play is a good it may be a great way to start in the hobby.

That sucks, it looks like they were selling these pretty good at $109, they are now down to 46 in stock.

Yeah I have noticed on some other sale/clearance products that they raise the price if it is selling well.
