An option for monospace font in our posts would be most welcome. There are plenty of times where I want to show a crude diagram, or an image of a board position,
or a table of some sort, or convey information in some manner which is not
so easy to view with a proportional font.

Also, maybe some people would like to show ascii art, although I personally don't feel any need to do so. Ascii art is possible with proportional fonts, anyway.

Of course this would also apply to game reviews and everything else.

Thanks!

Try out the Sample button

The code button too.
It's supposed to do returns but I have a bug where it puts two
carriage returns in for each one.

Well, let's see if it works:

one way | another way
|
1 2 3 4 | 22 21 24 23
5 6 7 8 | 18 17 20 19
9 10 11 12 | 30 29 32 31
13 14 15 16 | 26 25 28 27
|
|
17 18 19 20 | 6 5 8 7
21 22 23 24 | 2 1 4 3
25 26 27 28 | 14 13 16 15
29 30 31 32 | 10 9 12 11
|
|
33 34 35 36 | 54 53 56 55
37 38 39 40 | 50 49 52 51
41 42 43 44 | 62 61 64 63
45 46 47 48 | 58 57 60 59
|
|
49 50 51 52 | 38 37 40 39
53 54 55 56 | 34 33 36 35
57 58 59 60 | 46 45 48 47
61 62 63 64 | 42 41 44 43

Okay, the carriage return bug seems fixed, but multiple spaces are still a problem. I wanted the above to show a vertical line dividing two diagrams from each other.

Yikes! It looks like text wrap no longer works in this post. Another bug?
I am using Mozilla.

Also, why is this called "Sample"? It sure confused me. why not add the option over with the font size list?

And what is the difference between Sample and Code?

Thanks

HTML doesn't render multiple spaces at all. Aldie would have to replace multiple spaces with the "nbsp" code.

You can do that manually, but it is a real pain in the neck. For Example:

Tst1     Tst2
Test1    Test2

Replace all spaces with "&", followed by "nbsp", and ended with ";".

A simpler approach is to click on "Code" instead of "Sample." That's the difference, apparently.

. .
. . .
. CODE . .
. . .
. . .
. . TEST .
. . .
. .

The carriage returns are doubled, but it's still viewable.

An example of a post is at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/485558
