I played several times against the famous Keldon-AI, but just recently beat it (2 player standard, base game only) 40:34. cool
Of course all thanks to the General Strategy Guide from Alex Rockwell. All hail the Alexfrog! thumbsupthumbsup

Funny thing is I don't own the game yet (but I got it in an eBay auction just a few hours ago).
I started with Old Earth using a trade strategy and then changed to and finished with produce-consume. Mining Conglomerate, Trade League and Galactic Trendsetters helped me nail the win.
The AI started with New Sparta and managed to settle 6 prod worlds and 1 windfall and had the useful merchant guild. I had 3 prod worlds and 1 windfall.
AI did not have enough consume powers to benefit from consuming, thus the game ended because the AI put the 12th card in the tableau.

Tableaus at the end:
Me:
Worlds: Old Earth, Alpha Centauri, Lost Species Ark World, New Earth, Earth's Lost Colony, Alien Rosetta Stone World, Galactic Trendsetters.
Developments: Trade League, Mining Conglomerate.
AI:
Worlds: New Sparta, New Survivalists, Secluded World, Rebel Miners, Mining World, Pre-Sentient Race, Comet Zone, Alien Robotic Factory.
Developments: Merchant Guild, New Military Tactics, Contact Specialist, Galactic Federation.

Cards in hand:
Me: 4
AI: 6

Goods on worlds:
Me: 0
AI: 3 rare elements on respective worlds.
