The rules say that you can only play Most Wanted villains as a lead villain, so how come they have a backup effect? How would you play it?

Some of the most waned villains have an effect that says discard to use such and such an effect. How would that work if they were only allowed to be played as lead villains?

I'm confused, please help.

The villains with a "Most Wanted" Symbol are treated just like normal villains, i. e. you can also use their backup effect when some other hero card is the lead villain.

The rule you are referring to is only applied after a villain card with a "Most Wanted" symbol has been placed on the board in one of the areas especially marked for the "Most Wanted Villains" (after a hero was defeated). Now, once it lies in one of those 3 positions, the villain card is available to all players to be used as a new lead villain and the backup effect may now not be used anymore to boost some other lead villain.

But before that (when it is still in some player's hand) it may be used normally (either as lead villain or backup effect).
