The only solo application of "ranged" in the Core set is that it lets you use Rain of Arrows.

Thanks. I noticed Rain of Arrows after I posted the OP. Too bad, as it makes cards (like Rohan horse archer) more expensive with no benefit (except perhaps Rain of Arrows).

This is an advice for people who plan on building decks for playing solo. Avoid ranged characters. Unless you are building a deck centered around rain of arrows.

Though I DO believe that FFG will release more support for ranged in later expansions.

Perhaps an event that allows ranged characters to target engaged enemies at the start of the combat phase, or many even before they engage them while they're still in the staging area.

I would say rather than an event make that an attachment.

Probably a good idea. I just got the game and am playing through the preconstructed single sphere decks to get a feel for them.
